How do I remove vocals from a song for free, without uploading?
Drop the track into ClipForge and click Remove Vocals. The Instant engine uses phase-cancellation in the Web Audio API to separate the centre (vocals) from the sides (instrumental) — entirely on your device. The optional AI engine runs an HT-Demucs model in your browser for cleaner stems. Either way, your audio is never uploaded.
Is this as good as LALAL.AI or Moises?
Those paid services require an upload and an account. ClipForge is free and private. The Instant engine is great for true-stereo studio recordings; the AI engine (HT-Demucs) approaches dedicated-service quality and separates full stems — running locally with WebGPU/WASM.
Can I make a karaoke / acapella track?
Yes. The Instrumental stem is your karaoke track; the Vocals stem is the acapella. Export either as WAV.
Why does the AI model download the first time?
The HT-Demucs model is ~166 MB. It downloads once, is cached in your browser, and then runs instantly offline. Instant DSP needs no download at all.
Does it work on mono tracks?
Phase-cancellation needs true stereo. Mono tracks separate poorly with Instant mode — use a stereo source or the AI engine for the best result.
